WELLCOME: Pregnant Women with Hypertension

This study is looking at pregnancy health in women with and without high blood pressure. The goal is to better understand how blood pressure during pregnancy relates to brain oxygen levels and baby's brain development.

Who can join:

  • Women who are 20 weeks pregnant or less, with or without high blood pressure

What's involved:
Five prenatal visits, where participants will:

  • Have their vitals and brain oxygen levels measured

  • Play a short computer-based game with the research team

After delivery, families will also be invited back for an MRI scan of their baby's brain.

Cost & compensation:

  • Free to participate

  • Complimentary car service transportation and snacks at each visit

  • Total compensation up to $500

Flexible scheduling:
Study visits are scheduled around your availability. If interested, a team member will contact you to complete a brief screening at your convenience.

Brain Stimulation for Tremor and Ataxia

This study is looking at how the brain works in people with Ataxia or Essential Tremor — two conditions that affect movement and balance. The goal is to see what happens in the brain when a safe, non-invasive form of brain stimulation is applied, compared to healthy volunteers.

Who can join:

  • Adults 18+ diagnosed with Ataxia or Essential Tremor, or

  • Healthy adults 40+ who want to participate as a comparison group

What's involved:
One clinic visit, lasting 2–3 hours. During the visit, participants will have:

  • Sensors placed on the scalp to measure brain activity (EEG) — no needles, nothing invasive

  • Small wearable sensors attached to the hand, feet, and back to track movement and balance

  • Gentle, non-invasive brain stimulation applied during rest and during simple movement tasks

Cost & compensation:

  • Free to participate

  • Participants will receive $75 after completing the study

CBD and Brain Response to Stress Study

Join a Research Study on CBD and Stress Response

This study is looking at how CBD (a non-intoxicating compound from cannabis) affects the brain's stress-response system — including brain circuits, hormones, and behavior. Participants will be randomly given either CBD or a placebo (inactive solution), and no one will know which until the study ends.

Who can join:

  • Adults ages 18–25

  • People who have experienced early-life stress or trauma, and currently feel moderate to high stress or anxiety

  • English speakers

  • Healthy volunteers also needed for comparison
